Judy Burley's Legacy

The Heart of The Otis Foundation

Judy Burley’s story is one of resilience and compassion. Diagnosed with breast cancer at 29, she and her husband, Andrew Barling, found solace in the natural beauty of Bendigo's Mandurang Valley. Judy's vision of offering respite in beautiful settings to others facing similar challenges led to the founding of The Otis Foundation in 2000, named after her beloved dog, Otis.

With the support of Andrew and a dedicated community, Judy's dream first took shape in the form of two retreats — Jude’s and Hannah’s. These havens offer those with breast cancer a place to rest and relax, embodying Judy’s desire to share the restorative power of nature.

Andrew Barling OAM, serves as the beacon of compassion at the core of The Otis Foundation. His unwavering commitment, inspired by Judy's legacy, has transformed her vision into a reality that has positively impacted so many people.

We honour Judy Burley's enduring spirit and Andrew Barling's selfless commitment.

Judy’s vision lives on in the compassionate work we have been conducting for the past 24 years and hope to continue long into the future.
